Denise Jubber

Associate Staff

Denise has been involved in Christian ministry for over 30 years.  In the 1990’s she pastored on the staff of a rural church and has since served as ministry director in several churches. She has worked with people across the lifespan and from all socio-economic class, but always with a focus on spiritual formation and inner wholeness.

Denise’s bi-vocational career includes working in the financial services sector for 20+ years, most recently from 2012-2015 at Hawes Financial Group as the Behavioral Science Director.  In this capacity she led the development of a leadership training program based on emotional intelligence, provided staff development trainings with a focus on communication styles, and designed an employee training program using a competency model.

In 2015 Denise was hired by the Eugene Mission, the largest homeless shelter in Oregon, to develop a Supportive Services department. The team has grown to 16 people who serve 1200+ guests per year, with a focus on helping them move in the direction of Wellness by providing case management and counseling.  Denise developed a year long psycho-educational curriculum called HOPE Wellness, which is foundational in helping achieve this goal by introducing emotional intelligence and psychological coping tools to people who have severe trauma histories.

Denise has a calling to assist people (with an emphasis on Christian leaders) in deepening their relationship with God and overcome the barriers keeping them from walking in their truest self. This calling is grounded in her personal experience of brokenness and healing journey with God. She joined the SoulFormation staff in March 2018 and has a private practice where she sees clients for spiritual direction, counseling, and, supervision.  She uses an integrated approach to her work, weaving spirituality, psychology, sociology, and neuroscience into her practice. This comes out of a foundational belief that God heals and forms our soul holistically utilizing tools from many different approaches and disciplines.

Denise has served in her local church as the SoulCare Ministry Director since 2015, where she helps people grow in their relationship with God, themselves, and others. In addition to seeing individual clients, she leads Space-For-God and Enneagram retreats, and Emotional Intelligence Workshops for groups or churches.

Denise attended the SoulFormation Academy in 2013-15 (Cohort 4) and the School of Spiritual Direction in 2015-16 (Cohort 2). She has a BA in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Northwest Christian University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon.  Denise has been married to Ron for 38+ years; they have 3 adult children who, with their partners, have given them 12 amazing grandchildren.
